“Don’t get stuck where it feels good”

// LET GO OF WHAT YOU MAY BE HINDERED BY

THIS IS A TRANSFORMATIVE AND EMBODIED PRACTICE OF THE BODYHEARTMIND.

THROUGH GUIDED POETIC UNIVERSE WITH A THEME RELATED TO EACH PRACTICE WE JOURNEY BETWEEN PERPETUAL MOVEMENT, REST, RELEASE AND FREE MOVEMENT.

WITH SHAKING, JUMPING, DANCING, INTUITIVE MOMENT (SOME YOGA SOMETIMES TOO), PILATES, SOMATICS AND BODY WEIGHT TRAINING, NOT TO MENTION A KICK ASS CAREFULLY CURATED PLAYLIST, THIS CLASS IS DESIGNED FOR ANYONE BUT ESPECIALLY YOGIS AND WILL AT BEST DELIVER A CATHARTIC RELEASE, A GREAT WORKOUT, SWEAT AND A STRONG, RESILIENT BODY.

SHAKE THE DUST COMES IN 3 DELICIOUS CLASS TYPES

  • Opening to Grace is an invocation class (beginner and basic level)It is about meeting ourselves where we are, getting in there/here and invoking a trust for life and where it is taking us.

  • Flow state is more cardio and intuitive/free movement class (intermediate level) It is a play between form and formlessness, container and spilling out of it.

  • Rest in mo(ve)ment is an ‘interbeing’ class, down to earth class (all levels) It is fluid, grounding, slow and restorative/somatic in nature.

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?

LET`S GET PERSONAL…

When I started to teach over 24 years ago, I actually always taught hybrid classes next to teaching yoga and pilates.

I was trained as a pilates instructor first in my teens and met this wonderful teacher and former ballet dancer called Janice Redman that was teaching a mix of Yoga, Somatics, Alexander technique and Pilates called Bodylogic. I totally fell in love with it as Somatics and Alexander technique I already had done through dance, and when she asked me to start teaching it, I of course said yes.

After taking my first formal yoga teacher training after having my first child at 21, I felt super inspired to create something of my own so I suggested the yoga studio I was working at a class that would mix yoga, pilates and would be more cardio too, Hot Dynamics was born ( yeah, I know, but it was in a hot yoga studio, haha). It became an instant success and I had always over 30 people in my classes, it was full and HOT, probably too hot to be honest.

This was in 2007-2010 and I REALLY wanted to use music in my classes as a former dancer but the studio owner did not allow it. So I practiced with music on my own.

Year 2020 called for this class to reappear full on and so SHAKE THE DUST was born, with soundscapes ( I have studied music therapy).

The name comes from a spoken poem by Anis Mojgani I used to play a lot in my classes 2012-2014. Hope to see you in classes on Zoom, and in real life too, and the trainings we are sharing.

“ALL THE PUSHES AND PULLS, AND PUSHES AND PULLS, AND PUSHES AND PULLS...IT PUSHES FOR YOU... SO CRAB THIS WORLD BY ITS CLOTHESPINS AND SHAKE IT OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN, AND JUMP ON TOP AND TAKE IT FOR A SPIN; AND WHEN YOU HOP OFF... SHAKE IT AGAIN...FOR THIS IS YOURS. THIS IS YOURS. MAKE MY WORDS WORTH IT....
